THREE60 Energy was appointed to support the decommissioning of two unmanned offshore facilities, operated and maintained on a campaign basis by intervention teams.
The operator required a flexible, cost-effective delivery model capable of maintaining safe operations while progressing decommissioning activity and responding to opportunities as they arose.
Challenge
With two unmanned facilities entering decommissioning, the operator needed an approach that could provide the necessary operational, technical and regulatory support without the cost structure associated with a conventional operating model.
The solution also needed sufficient flexibility to accommodate campaign-based activity and enable additional decommissioning scopes to progress when opportunities became available.
Solution
THREE60 provided an integrated Duty Holder and O&M model alongside integrity, engineering, procurement, construction and decommissioning support.
Delivery was coordinated through THREE60’s Aberdeen-based onshore team, supported by engineering expertise and a virtual Technical Advisory Network. The scope also included the management systems and emergency response arrangements required to support safe and effective operations.
Result
The facilities were successfully transitioned to the new delivery model, achieving an approximately 30% reduction in costs.
The flexibility of the approach also enabled opportunistic plug and abandonment (P&A) and removal activities to commence, allowing the operator to progress wider decommissioning scopes efficiently.
