Challenge
THREE60 Energy was engaged to provide full well management for two onshore deviated exploration wells, both requiring accelerated delivery within strict permitting timelines.
The locations presented distinct logistical and environmental challenges, including restricted site access, environmentally sensitive surroundings and close interfaces with local communities and surrounding infrastructure.
The project required rapid development of the well designs alongside fast-tracked technical and regulatory submissions, procurement of the drilling rig and associated services, and careful coordination of mobilisation and site operations.
Solution
THREE60 provided an integrated well management solution spanning well design, engineering, regulatory support, procurement and operational delivery.
The team rapidly developed the required ‘S’-profile directional well designs and progressed technical submissions in parallel with a streamlined procurement programme, enabling the land rig and associated services to be mobilised within the required timeframe.
During execution, an experienced operations team managed drilling and data acquisition activities while maintaining close control of safety, environmental and operational performance.
Both wells were successfully drilled to their planned directional profiles, with the required logging-while-drilling, wireline and, where applicable, coring data acquired to meet the exploration objectives.
Following completion, one well was safely suspended to retain the option for future re-entry or abandonment, while the second was permanently abandoned in accordance with applicable industry requirements.
Result
Both exploration wells were successfully drilled and delivered within budget, with the required subsurface data acquired and the project objectives achieved.
Rig and associated equipment were safely demobilised following completion of each campaign, with one well retained for potential future activity and the other successfully abandoned.
The programme demonstrated THREE60’s ability to rapidly mobilise and manage complete onshore drilling campaigns, overcoming regulatory, environmental and logistical constraints while maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance.
