After 15 years in operation, a production pipeline system required quantified inspection data to support life-extension decisions. The system was configured as a loop with flexible steep-wave risers and had never previously been pigged.
THREE60 Energy was engaged to manage the engineering and execution of an inspection pigging campaign, from assessing the existing topsides equipment through to offshore delivery.
Challenge
The campaign needed to align with the end of a planned asset shutdown, creating a demanding schedule for contractor selection, engineering and execution.
With the pipelines having never been pigged, THREE60 also needed to develop a low-risk strategy addressing debris, cleaning requirements and the challenges associated with pigging through flexible risers. Existing topsides pigging equipment had also remained unused since the asset was originally commissioned and required assessment before the campaign could proceed.

THREE60 assessed the condition and readiness of the existing topsides equipment and managed contractor selection for the cleaning and inspection activities.
The team developed the pigging strategy and managed delivery through tool development and testing, onshore technical reviews and preparation for execution, before coordinating the offshore inspection campaign.
Result
The inspection pigging campaign was successfully delivered on time, within budget and without incident.
The completed campaign provided the inspection activity required to support the asset's pipeline life-extension programme, while successfully overcoming the challenges associated with a system that had never previously been pigged.
