Challenge
A UKCS operator required additional engineering and project delivery capability to support the continued development of a key North Sea production hub, including the integration of new subsea tie-backs and associated topsides modifications.
The operator required a flexible team capable of working as an extension of its organisation, providing specialist subsea expertise while coordinating complex interfaces across engineering, contractors, existing infrastructure and offshore execution. For one development, the schedule was closely aligned with a planned turnaround (TAR), creating a critical requirement to complete new facilities and ensure all tie-ins were ready within the available execution window.
Solution
THREE60 Energy was initially engaged to undertake early-phase subsea engineering and manage the associated topsides modifications.
The role subsequently expanded through FEED and into full project delivery support, including preparation of client project deliverables, contractor selection, package management and execution assurance. Embedded THREE60 engineering and project management personnel worked alongside the operator’s team throughout the development, coordinating interfaces between subsea infrastructure, topsides facilities and delivery contractors.
The team continued to support the project through execution and offshore installation, using established contractors where appropriate to maintain continuity, build on previous project experience and support delivery quality. This embedded model has developed into a wider long-term Owner’s Engineering relationship, providing the operator with access to subsea engineering, project management, package management and specialist technical expertise across both new developments and decommissioning activities.
Result
For the tie-back development, the new facilities were successfully installed ahead of the planned TAR, with all required tie-ins completed during the turnaround window. The new well was subsequently brought online within the targeted start-up window, supporting additional production through the existing North Sea hub.
The wider relationship has established THREE60 as a trusted extension of the operator’s organisation, providing scalable engineering and project delivery capability across subsea developments, tie-backs and decommissioning scopes.
