Enabling MARS Deployment from Smaller Vessels

THREE60 Energy developed a modular deployment and overboarding system for Cameron’s Multiple Application Re-injection System (MARS), designed to support deepwater squeeze applications.

THREE60 Energy developed a modular deployment and overboarding system for Cameron’s Multiple Application Re-injection System (MARS), designed to support deepwater squeeze applications.

The system provided a practical method of deploying MARS hardware to the seabed from smaller vessels, combining specialist handling equipment with flexible riser deployment.

Challenge

The project required a handling solution capable of safely deploying MARS hardware in deepwater while enabling operations to be undertaken from smaller vessels.

The system also needed to manage the flexible riser effectively during deployment and minimise fatigue loading.

Solution

THREE60 developed a modular handling system comprising a high-performance spooler, Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) and control station.

The system uses a flexible riser to deploy the MARS hardware to the seabed, incorporating THREE60’s proven clamping technology to reduce fatigue loading on the riser during deployment.

Result

The completed system provided a modular solution for the deployment and overboarding of MARS hardware in deepwater applications.

By enabling deployment from smaller vessels while managing loading on the flexible riser, the solution provided greater flexibility in vessel selection and offshore execution.
