THREE60 Energy designed, manufactured and delivered an all-electric Saturation (SAT) Diving Launch and Recovery System (LARS) for Well-Safe Solutions’ Well-Safe Guardian, supporting the vessel’s specialist well decommissioning capability.
The system was designed to deploy a 12-person saturation diving system, combining high levels of redundancy with automated controls and an all-electric architecture.
Challenge
As part of the overhaul, modernisation and upgrade of the Well-Safe Guardian, Well-Safe required a state-of-the-art SAT Diving LARS capable of supporting safe and efficient diving operations.
The system needed to provide multiple levels of redundancy, intuitive operator control and a compact footprint, while meeting Lloyd’s class requirements and IMCA requirements.
Solution
Drawing on decades of launch and recovery system experience, THREE60 developed a complete all-electric solution incorporating three main lift winches with redundant electric motor and gearbox sets, an electrically driven umbilical winch and level wind, passive cursor system and electrically actuated bell supports.
The integrated THREE60 control system enables the diving bell to be launched and recovered using a single joystick and HMI, with automated control across the winches. The triple-winch architecture provides multiple levels of redundancy above industry requirements to support safe diving operations and recovery.
The complete system was designed in-house, including mechanical and electrical engineering and software development, before being assembled and tested by THREE60.
Result
The completed system provided the Well-Safe Guardian with a fully integrated, all-electric SAT Diving LARS, supporting its specialist offshore well decommissioning operations.
Building on THREE60’s experience of delivering more than 25 saturation diving LARS, the system combined redundancy, automated control and ease of operation in the latest evolution of the company’s diving launch and recovery technology.
