THREE60 Energy provided technical procurement and assurance services for DP World Southampton’s Super Post Panamax Ship-to-Shore (STS) container cranes.
Among the largest cranes of their kind in the UK, the cranes feature an under-spreader height of 53 metres and a boom designed to service Ultra Large Container Ships (ULCS) up to 24 containers wide.
Challenge
The procurement and delivery of large-scale STS cranes requires specialist engineering oversight throughout design, manufacture, transportation, erection and commissioning.
DP World required independent technical expertise throughout the procurement process to provide assurance that the cranes met the required quality and engineering standards before entering operation at Southampton.

The team provided third-party assurance during manufacture and factory acceptance, supported load-out and offload during transportation, and delivered on-site assurance throughout erection in Southampton.
The scope continued through final commissioning and documentation sign-off, providing technical oversight from initial design review through to operational readiness.
