Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the role is to work as part of an integrated team, responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical/electrical systems and components for onshore windfarms. The role will support a range of Operations and Maintenance contracts in onshore winds at various sites within the UK.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Assist with routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines 
2. Maintain the required technical quality of work for installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical/electrical systems and components
3. Assist with testing and troubleshooting to solve problems
4. Ensure functionality of major mechanical/electrical components
5. Remote diagnosis of turbine faults
6. Ensure tools and equipment are available, certified and fit for purpose
7. Actively participate in any pre-job inspections/toolbox talks for maintenance activities
8. Ensure completion of paperwork for each job, work orders, checklists and AWP’s
9. Raise corrective work orders as required and liaise with supervisor to agree target completion dates and all requirements
10. tasks such as mechanical installation works, servicing of microwave communications systems, as directed by supervisor
11. Ensure safe access and egress for all work parties
12. Accurate execution of maintenance schedules on site
13. Ensure equipment spares are ordered in line with maintenance schedule, including critical spares requirements
14. Ensure all work undertaken is safe, and in compliance and accordance with statutory Health and Safety procedures, maintenance manuals, specific work instructions, safe systems of work and all recommended safe working practice
15. Ensure all personnel in proximity of works are fully aware of planned works, associated risks and control/mitigation measures in place
16. Maintain 100% compliance with Safety Critical Competencies in line with Company Competence Management Process (CPP)
17. Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is appropriately used
18. Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances are fully reported

1. Form part of the Emergency Response team as required by the Company Emergency Response Procedures

Knowledge & Qualifications

1. Appropriate vocational qualifications or certification in trade/discipline i.e. HNC or NVQ Mechanical or Electrical
2. GWO Working at Height & Rescue
3. GWO Manual Handling
4. GWO Fire Awareness
5. GWO First Aid
6. Medical certificate
7. Wind Turbine Safety Rules

Skills & Experience

1. Experience with electrical protection systems and maintenance of onshore wind turbines and / or offshore oil & gas and / or marine
2. Ability to technically troubleshoot under pressure
3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to influence and use tactful assertiveness to achieve required outcomes
5. Responsive and open to changing circumstances
6. Ability to motivate oneself and others to deliver
7. Be fully flexible and willing to travel within UK
