Job Purpose

Due to ongoing growth and expansion within THREE60 we are currently seeking to employ a Production Technologist, to join our team in Aberdeen UK.

Basic Purpose of Role:

The Production Technologist is responsible for optimizing and managing the production of hydrocarbons from oil and gas reservoirs. This involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement technologies and strategies that enhance well performance, increase production efficiency, and ensure the safe and environmentally compliant operation of production facilities.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Well Production Optimization:

  1. Analyse well performance data, production rates, and reservoir characteristics to identify opportunities for optimization.
  2. Develop and implement production enhancement strategies, considering factors such as reservoir pressure, fluid properties, and wellbore conditions.

Well Completion Design:

  1. Lead the design and optimization of well completions, incorporating best practices for casing, tubing, perforating, and stimulation techniques.
  2. Collaborate with drilling and completion teams to ensure that well completions align with reservoir characteristics and production goals.

Artificial Lift Systems:

  1. Design, select, and optimize artificial lift systems (e.g., rod pumps, ESP, gas lift) to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
  2. Conduct performance evaluations of artificial lift systems and recommend adjustments or replacements as needed.

Well Intervention and Workovers:

  1. Plan and coordinate well intervention activities to improve or restore well productivity.
  2. Collaborate with drilling and completion teams to execute workover programs, including equipment selection and execution oversight.

Well Integrity and Surveillance:

  1. Perform well integrity assessments and implement preventive measures to ensure the reliability and safety of production assets.
  2. Utilize surveillance technologies (e.g., downhole sensors) to monitor well and reservoir behaviour, identifying any deviations or potential issues.

Production Forecasting and Reporting:

  1. Collaborate with reservoir engineers to develop accurate production forecasts based on reservoir models and historical data.
  2. Generate regular reports on key production metrics, trends, and optimization initiatives for management and stakeholders.

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

  1. Analyse production data, well tests, and pressure data to diagnose production issues and recommend corrective actions.
  2. Utilize data-driven insights to continuously improve production performance and efficiency.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

  1. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices related to production optimization.
  2. Evaluate new technologies and tools, making recommendations for adoption to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs.

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is essential. [ ◉ ]
  2. Strong understanding of artificial lift systems, production optimization techniques, and well intervention strategies is essential. [ ◉ ]
  3. Strong knowledge of well completion design is essential. [ ◉ ]
  4. Proficiency in using production engineering software and tools (Prosper, MBAL, GAP) is essential. [ ◉ ]

Skills & Experience

  1. Demonstratable experience in production technology or a related role within the oil and gas industry is essential. [ ◉ ]
  2. Strong experience working in an international group (preferable). [ ]
  3. Effective communication skills to understand client needs, present findings, and provide recommendations in a clear and understandable manner is essential. [ ◉ ]
  4. Ability to write and contribute to proposals for projects, outlining methodologies, timelines, and risk/benefits is essential.
  5. Proficient in preparing detailed and comprehensive reports, including technical documents and non-technical summaries is essential.
  6. Ability to think critically and solve complex geological problems is essential. [ ◉ ]
  7. Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances is essential. [ ◉ ]
  8. Ability to work with challenging timeline is essential. [ ◉ ]
  9. Availability to travel as needed (preferable). [ ]

  1. Essential requirement that must be met before a candidate is appointed unless approved by the Projects Director. [ ◉ ]
