Job Purpose

Due to the continued growth and expansion of the THREE60 business across a variety of energy sectors, we are looking for a Lead Instrument Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. 

Main Duties:

  • Coordinate the execution of the engineering activities (Concept, FEED, Technical Study & Detailed Design) for SCE
  • Act as a discipline focal point for the project
  • Maintain the required technical quality of work
  • Ensure scope and schedule changes are controlled in accordance with the Change Control Process
  • Ensure planning and cost control on all scopes are maintained
  • Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and procedures
  • Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel
  • Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
  • Keep up-to-date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope
  • Review and approve the work output of discipline-assigned personnel
  • Review estimates and schedules
  • Maintain good communication with the Client
  • Visit Assets when necessary
  • Assist the Discipline Manager and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties
  • Ensure project-specific discipline filing system is maintained
  • Encourage and provide lateral learning within the Project
  • Achieve safety standards as defined in the personal performance contract
  • Be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
  • Manage discipline resources for the project.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Take into account all aspects of the “Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)”;
  • Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of office, site and contract/project health and safety guidelines and procedures;
  • Actively promote and comply with the SCE Safety Management System;
  • Take into account all relevant procedures, guidance, etc. relating to the work, which will ensure compliance with SCE Management Systems;
  • Ensure all personnel working under their direction are aware of the requirements placed upon them by “Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)” and the SCE Safety Management  System;
  • Actively promote and encourage all personnel to care for themselves and others at all times.

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education/Qualifications:

  1. Degree qualification in relevant subject [ ]
  2. HND qualification in relevant subject [ ]
  3. Chartered Engineer with relevant institution [ ]

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

  • Fully conversant with relevant Microsoft applications [ ]
  • Conversant with discipline specific engineering applications [ ]
  • Fully conversant with discipline specific codes and standards [ ]
  • BOSIET Offshore survival certification [ ]
  • Current offshore medical certificate [ ]
  • Skilled in the application of the relevant discipline engineering applications [ ]

Project Specific: TBC

Experience:

  • Significant experience in the practical application of the relevant engineering principles and their application to engineering projects [ ]
  • Considerable experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry and the application of discipline-specific equipment therein [ ]
  • Significant knowledge of engineering materials used within the discipline [ ]
  • Significant knowledge in the requirements and needs of other disciplines [ ]
  • Considerable experience in managing discipline teams  [ ]

  • Capable of representing SCE and Client to business associates in a professional manner [ ]
  • Team player [ ]
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications [ ]
