Job Purpose

Provide leadership and support to Operations, Group and EPCC to deliver an efficient HSEQ function that delivers HSEQ excellence and legislative compliance across the organisation, and instils a positive culture where everyone is acting safely and being environmentally responsible.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  1. Support the Group HSE Director to define and execute the HSE philosophy and strategy which achieves legislative compliance and ensure that all related initiatives are communicated and delivered in a collaborative manner
  2. Support Operations, Group and EPCC with the provision of practical and professional HSEQ guidance leading efforts to develop a continuous improvement culture
  3. Work closely with the business leadership team and lead on a range of HSEQ improvement projects, including development and execution of the annual HSE plan and management of the Company Emergency Response Programme
  4. Develop and update the Company Health, Safety Environmental & Quality policy and procedures to remain legally compliant in line with legislation, guidance and industry best practice
  5. Monitor business wide compliance and ensure that HSEQ policies, procedures and standards are communicated and understood, and monitor their effectiveness with supporting the business objectives
  6. Develop and manage the internal audit function, monitor its effectiveness and identify and implement improvements
  7. Lead and assist site/offshore inspections to ensure adherence with rules and legislation and conduct internal and external Health, Safety and Environmental audits in line with auditing and internal Group standards, identifying any potential hazards or risks and identifying corrective actions
  8. Support the business with maintaining and improving it’s ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 accreditation
  9. Manage the HSE incident reporting and investigation system and ensure all accidents/incidents are appropriately investigated and make recommendations and improvements to prevent reoccurrences
  10. Provide HSEQ knowledge and expertise to assist tenders, due diligence and business development activities
  11. Consolidate HSEQ data from various business streams and prepare the HSEQ reports for sharing and discussion with the Leadership team
  12. Attendance at Group and Leadership meetings and report on progress, risks, HSEQ statistics and provide advice, guidance and best practise
  13. Be responsible for employee engagement which drives effective safety behaviours and instil positive morale to develop a culture where everyone is acting safely and being environmentally responsible
  14. Build strong professional working relationships across all levels of the organisation up to and including Board Level and internal and external staff and customers
  15. Identify and develop a programme of HSEQ training and awareness campaigns for the Company
  16. Manage and supervise direct reports and support the annual performance review

Emergency Response

  1. Form part of the Emergency Response team as required by the Company Emergency Response Procedures

Knowledge & Qualifications

  1. Formal qualification at a minimum of HND level in a relevant. Engineering, Business, Health and Safety or Environmental discipline
  2. Recognised HSE Qualification (NEBOSH general certificate or diploma)
  3. Environmental qualification is essential
  4. Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 requirements and auditing standards
  5. Knowledge of UK HSE regulatory framework, including specific legislation applicable to the Duty Holder activities in the Energy sector
  6. Valid OGUK Medical, MIST and BOSIET

Skills & Experience

  1. Proven experience of working in a HSEQ Manager role within the Energy Industry
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  3. Ability to lead, mentor and coach others
  4. Ability and flexibility to work at all levels and at hands on level
  5. Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  6. Demonstratable skills in adapting to change and leading change processes and promoting behaviours that meet the organisation’s aims and values
