Electrical Engineers – Senior & Principal Overview

THREE60 Energy is looking for engineers and designers who are passionate about developing their skills in an alternative energy industry – Nuclear Decommissioning. THREE60 is supporting the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) portfolio in the safe clean-up of the Sellafield site in Cumbria. This is a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in one of the most complex industrial sites in the UK. PPP is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors including Oil & Gas, Petrochemical etc.

We are happy to discuss hybrid, remote and part-time arrangements. Visits to our client’s office in Warrington or Cumbria will be required from time to time. The initial scope of work is for approximately 12 months but long-term opportunities will be possible for the correct applicants.  Applicants with the right skills are encouraged to apply regardless of their current UK location. Applicants should have experience in engineering & design roles and should ideally be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or be working towards gaining professional status. They shall be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  1. The ability to work with minimal supervision, work effectively in a team and to meet deadlines, excellent written and spoken English & effective communication skills.
  2. A professional attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to problem-solving.
  3. Focus on producing and maintaining key deliverable documents/reports, calculations, schedules, etc. in line with the programme and to appropriate quality.
  4. Ability to liaise and coordinate with other design disciplines and plant engineering as necessary in the production of preliminary and detailed design deliverables where appropriate.
  5. Ability to manage a small team of engineers and is familiar with estimating/scheduling/weekly progress reporting.

Scope:

Sellafield’s analytical laboratory provides analytical services to the site. The existing laboratory is reaching the end of its life and will be replaced by new facilities to be provided by the Replacement Analytical Project (RAP). This project will re-equip and extend the existing National Nuclear Laboratory Central Laboratory to provide modern analytical facilities for the Sellafield site for several decades.

The project is currently nearing the end of the Preliminary Design phase and an optimisation project will be conducted to ensure cost, schedule and technical design aspects are optimal. The RAP project includes the provision of electrical power supplies, lighting and a range of other services, radiological containment and integration of analytical instrumentation. It is split into four workstreams, three of which are concerned with the actual analytical processes and their containment, and the fourth provides all services to the other three (balance of plant).
